- Biography
I study political behavior, democracy, race, gender, identity, and political methodology in comparative and U.S. contexts. My research and teaching interests touch more specifically on pressing topics such as inequality and representation, as well as their complicated relationship with democratic attitudes and behavior. Recently, I have been focusing on the politics of the English-speaking Caribbean, intersections with racial discrimination and attitudes, and postcolonial thought. My research has appeared in the European Journal of Political Science, Electoral Studies, Research & Politics, and Social Science Quarterly, among other outlets.
In the classroom, I aim to foster meaningful connections with students through dynamic lessons, the incorporation of technology in fluid ways to encourage student engagement, as well as deeper learning. Furthermore, I practice culturally competent teaching, focusing on the interests, needs, and cultures of students, with the goal of an inclusive and compassionate classroom space.
