- Biography
- I study democracy and democratic consolidation, particularly in the region of sub-Saharan Africa. My research focuses on issues surrounding one-party dominant countries, countries with multiparty elections but where the same party consistently maintains power, and the implications for democracy in those types of regimes. Recently, I have been focusing on several case studies of democratic consolidation within sub-Saharan Africa.I primarily teach comparative politics and research methods, as well as in GSU's Interdisciplinary Studies program. In the classroom, I aim to connect students with out-of-the-classroom experiences and examples, including drawing upon my own background as a former Peace Corps Volunteer and non-profit experience in the healthcare sector. I have a strong commitment to GSU's College to Career initiative and work continuously to ensure my classroom is an inclusive space.Research InterestsDemocracy, Democratic Consolidation, One-Party Dominance, sub-Saharan Africa, LGBTQ Politics
