We are saddened to announce the tragic passing of AnnMari Robinson, one of our Ph.D. students, and her husband, Jamar Robinson. Last Sunday, the couple drowned while swimming in the ocean while on vacation, according to news reports from WSBTV and CBS46.
AnnMari was a passionate student of American political institutions. She earned a BA in Political Science and an MPA from Florida A&M, and an MA from Georgia State. She had planned to write a dissertation on the American presidency. At Georgia Perimeter College, AnnMari was an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural and Behavioral Sciences. She promoted political awareness among her students through action and pedagogy. Her colleagues deeply valued her work.
Here in our department, AnnMari was admired and respected by all—peers, instructors, and staff members. Her smile, optimism, and determination will be greatly missed. AnnMari and Jamar are survived by their sons, Jordan (14) and Jaren (13).
Warm regards and condolences,
The Political Science Department, Georgia State
