Upcoming Event: Collective Crimes in Time of War
The Center for Human Rights and Democracy invites you to the next speaker in the Holocaust and Genocide Studies series on Wednesday, November 28, at 10:30 AM at 1076 Langdale. Dr. Mila Dragojevic, Associate Professor of Politics at the University of the South in Sewannee, will give a talk entitled “Amoral Communities: Collective Crimes in Time of War.”
Dr. Dragojevic will present her new book, coming out next year from Cornell University Press, which analyzes wartime violence against civilians in Croatia, Uganda, and Guatemala, and especially the determinants of micro-violence in communities that used to have friendly inter-ethnic relations before the war.
In her first book, The Politics of Social Ties: Immigrants in an Ethnic Homeland (Ashgate 2014/Routledge 2016), Dr. Dragojević examined socio-political incorporation processes of former refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia in Serbia. Her research was also published in Slavic Review, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Nationalities Papers. Dr. Dragojević teaches international politics courses in Conflict and Peace and Identity and Diversity concentrations, as well as comparative politics classes focusing on Europe and Latin America.
