GSU Interns “Inside Atlanta’s Immigrant Cages”
The Project South and Georgia Detention Watch released a 105-page report on the conditions for detained immigrants in Georgia. GSU interns, Trevont Johnson and Pedro Ortiz, were among the team that produced the “Inside Atlanta’s Immigrant Cages” report involving a year-long documentation process and interviews with 38 detained immigrants and several immigration attorneys. Among other recommendations, the report called on the mayor of Atlanta to permanently close the ICE detention facility at the city jail.
