Direct-admit Ph.D.

The direct admit program is a streamlined degree for students who do not already hold an M.A. in Political Science. Applicants must hold a B.A. or B.S. in Political Science or a related field. Students in this program earn both a Ph.D. and an M.A. in passing.

This allows students to earn an M.A. during the first two years of the five-year program and enables them to earn a Ph.D. and an M.A. in passing.

Direct-admit Ph.D. students must meet these requirements.

The Ph.D. degree can be completed on either a full-time or part-time basis. The department strongly encourages students to pursue the degree full-time. Students considering part-time study need to discuss your plans with the Director of Graduate Studies.
