Dr. Naim and Dr. Gershon Receive Faculty Awards

“The Department of Political Science is honored to have two recipients among the College of Arts and Sciences 2017 Faculty Award winners,” said Chair Carrie Manning. “Our faculty is dedicated to nurturing our students and providing them with valuable experiences to prepare them for meaningful careers.”

Rashid Naim, principal senior lecturer and director for the Model UN and Model Arab League who joined Political Science in 1993, received the Outstanding Teacher Award.

“It is gratifying to see our students participate in Political Science’s Model UN and Model Arab League teams that won top honors at the 2016 international competitions,” said Dr. Naim. “Working with these students and seeing them grow to reach their potential is rewarding for me.”

Sarah Gershon, assistant professor and graduate director who joined Political Science in 2008, received the Outstanding Graduate Director Award.

“I am very excited to receive this award,” said Dr. Gershon. “The Political Science Department has outstanding faculty and graduate students. It has been my pleasure to work with this dynamic group to develop our program.”
